Ask your Digital Druid to look for the leathery oval leaves that lack the typical lobes of Northern oaks — Live Oak leaves are smooth-edged, simple, and tough, nothing like the scalloped silhouette most people picture when they think of oak. Your companion should also scan for Resurrection Fern growing along the upper surface of the branches. This fern curls brown and appears completely dead during drought, then unfurls green and alive within hours of rain. It chose Live Oak as its home for a reason.
